Program Component 2 “Educational Mediators – Formalizing the Role of Educational Mediators for Sustainable Impact” Mediate4Ed: Institutionalizing Change is implemented under a Agreement between the Swiss Federal Council and the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria. It is part of the Second Swiss Contribution to Selected Member States of the European Union, aimed at reducing economic and social disparities within the EU, as well as of the Swiss-Bulgarian Cooperation Programme, within the framework of the identified support measures under the Measure “Health and Education for All” (ZOV2).

The Program Component is the process of institutionalizing, professionalizing, and ensuring sustainability of the role of educational mediators in the education system. The overall goal is to improve access to education for children and families in vulnerable situations, as well as to strengthen cooperation between schools, parents, and local communities. It also aims to increase the capacity of the education system to work with vulnerable groups, with a view to reducing educational and social inequalities and contributing to a more effective process of educational and social integration.

The logical framework for the implementation of the program component is based on the implementation of training activities for key competencies and professional qualification, methodological support activities and activities for subsequent career development of educational mediators. The creation of a Methodological Center with a team will ensure effective coordination of the development of the profession, as well as teamwork between non-pedagogical staff for working with vulnerable groups. The program component will provide financial support (in the amount of the text for acquiring a professional qualification "Educational Mediation") for 600 educational mediators. The program component will provide preparatory courses for applying to higher education institutions in the specialty "Pedagogy".
